How did this come about? On February 18, 2015 there was a first of its kind, six hour meeting, gathering some of those involved in mobility work around the world. Specifically the focus was on hand-pedaled three-wheeled, trikes. The purpose of the meeting was to review a  127 page trike study done on 7 trikes in Indonesia in early 2014. USAID sponsored the study and UCP (United Cerebral Palsy) oversaw and edited the study.

There was representation from about 10 companies, which included the for-profit sector, and not-profit sector along with those from the humanitarian and the faith based perspective.

One take away from the meeting was a need for an online forum where the trike community can share information. The leadership team encouraged His Wheels International to take the lead on this opportunity since it fit within our mission. We at HWI had already begun to work on such a forum but the timing wasn’t right.

But Today our forum went live. You can join us at http://www.hiswheels.org/forums/forums/general-discussions/.
We welcome Matt McCmbridge as the forum moderator. Matt’s bio includes
A 1998 graduate of Stanford’s Product Design program (a multidisciplinary program within the Mechanical Engineering department), Matt has designed and manufactured mobility technology for people with disabilities in the United States and in less resourced settings around the world.”
