Networking

On Thursday August 7th Alice met with Tim from Servlife ministries. We networked and brainstormed about possible ways that His Wheels Trike and manufacturing process could work within Servlife’s mission to help the people in Nepal, India. One thing about development work, it happens through the process of building one relationship at a time.

It is always an adventure when meeting with those from other organizations. There’s no telling how HWI’s trike will inspire another person. (more…)

The Wheels are turning

The wheels are turning in many ways and in many places. Below is an update on some of the exciting things happening around trikes at three different universities and in Niger, West Africa.

Last week Alice had lunch with faculty at Spring Arbor University (SAU)who are part of the University Consortium. We prayed and dreamed together about some of the entrepreneurial and innovative ideas we discussed with faculty from SAU and India. Continue to pray with us as it takes time to implement good ideas.

Thanksgiving Tool Delivery

Tonight Alice was at Wheaton E. Free’s Thanksgiving Eve. Service. One of our ministry friends mentioned that her family was going to Spring Arbor, MI for Thanksgiving, leaving early in the AM. We at HWI are thankful that these friends will deliver  two sets of bike tools to Spring Arbor University (SAU). From there they will go to a ministry in Hyderabad, India that is partnering with SAU and HWI on a few project. The bicycle service arm of HWI has ended but the international bicycle impact of HWI continues and sending tools is one of those ways.

Your Help is Hurting

Alice is listening to this honest and truth telling podcast on Forbes.com. In this podcast, Your Help is Hurting, Jerry Bowyer interviews Peter Greer, the President and CEO of Hope International, which is a microfinance organization, about how are giving hurts others and ourselves. HWI has grappled with working to implement this type of model with our trikes. There is always the question of how can the disabled give back. We have some business students in our University Consortium students who are grappling with this issue on HWI’s behalf in a program in India. Unfortunately it is much easier to be Santa Claus instead of a responsible steward.

• What is a dream destination you have/had at one time envisioned for yourself?

• What Roadblocks, dead end signs, impasses, or alternate route bypasses have put a death to your dream or caused you to lose your way?
